Mixer drum and drive

The mixer drive and drive is the “heart” of any concrete mixer. IMER engineers designed them to ensure the best mixing quality in each drum section. Optimized spirals meet not only this requirement but also provide reinforcement to the drum rigidity.

In the standard version, the drum is made of 30MnB5 steel. Admixtures in this steel alloy of manganese and boron significantly increase resistance to deformation and frictional wear. Simple and reliable two-stage hydraulic planetary gears are used to drive the drum.

The hydraulic pump driven by the power take-off from the vehicle’s engine transmits pressure to the planetary gear that rotates the mixer drum. These gearboxes provide torque up to 85,000 Nm. In contrast, the drum can rotate at fourteen revolutions per minute.
