IMER manufactures mixer-drums in all the range of concrete truck-mixers from dedicated, special abrasion resistant steels.
30MnB5 steel is used for the standard series of drums in truck mixers. Whereas IMER WEAR steel for the SuperLight series (super light).
Both types of steel, due to their chemical composition, have very high mechanical properties. These properties are definitely higher than for commonly used steel grades (such as S355J0, commonly used by competitors).
For 30MnB5 steel, the manganese and boron content guarantee high frictional wear resistance and resistance to deformation caused by mixing of concrete. This steel has a relatively high strength index. This feature with very good weldability allows for obtaining a stable structure of the drum shell and the spirals.
With IMER WEAR steel, thanks to the fine-grained micro-alloy steel structure, very high abrasion resistance is obtained. This allows to reduce the thickness of the drum wall thickness to 3 mm while maintaining or even improving the durability of the standard variant of 30MnB5 steel.
